Rocks on Red
I was expecting a story filled with adventure and badass fighting which is exactly what I got. What I wasn't ready for however was getting so invested in the characters that I would literally cry my eyes dry every volume. Honestly never cried so many tears of joy/sadness/excitement/whatever at a manga before. The way this manga also deals with real life issues from the past that are still felt today is very well done and actually makes you stop and think between all the chaos in.
So if you are interested in a 19th century cowboy America revenge story then please give this a try it will not dissapoint.
10/10
TLDR: rootin tootin cowboy shootin

You know, people misunderstand me easily. Like, as an example, let's ask some random folks on the streets about me:
You know, people misunderstand me easily. Like, as an example, let's ask some random folks on the streets about me:
"Never heard of him."
"What's a "Ivern"? Sounds pretentious."
"Oooh, isn't he the guy that went on a murderous rampage during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 trying to put his di[REDACTED] into a submarine's empty SLBM barre-"
WOAH WOAH WOAH THERE, nobody asked about that... and nobody should. If the want to live. But just like with this manga, first impressions can be wrong.
If you asked me how it was at chapter 25, I would've nagged infinitely about wrong body proportions, chins able to be used to open tin cans, a wonky art style, a simplistic characterization, centered around a shallowly written Mary Sue and a bas****.
But now, I can give you a more precise analysis. The art gets stable in no time, and becomes truly remarkable. Anatomy and faces, even costumes, are very good: the artstyle has always been clean and sensual, but now it's polished and solid too. It's an explicit manga, both in the representation of s** and gore, which is rare in this genre.
The writing, while excellent from the start, described a characterization that needed time to develop. The cast is nuanced, if a bit too taken in their obsessions. We got a she-hulk who admittedly has the physique of a bamboo plant, but is very atypical in mentality. You get to watch her evolve, from a stubborn caterpillar who is crazy about loyalty to the same thing, but in love. Which is great. And Cheshire is shown to be much more than a womanizer, a man taken by insecurity, lost in a unstable life, but still very much human. And adorable. And a flag redder than pantone P 60-8 C. Love him anyway, he is my tantrum-throwing boi.
All things considered, I find this one plenty satisfying, and I'm honestly surprised by how well some scenes are pulled off. I really enjoyed the writing and I'm recommending it, along with a GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern). Also the sm** is a nice add on.
